MEETING - NOVEMBER 15, 2001
BATON ROUGE
This meeting will give each potentially responsible party (PRP)
the opportunity to review the evidence showing they are liable
for their share of the costs associated with the remediation
of this site. You will also be provided with a history of the
site and a review of the work already completed and past costs
incurred on your behalf. The proposed work plan will be presented
and compared with other substantially more expensive remedies
that may be imposed on the PRPs.
The proposed remediation plan has been approved by the
Louisiana Department of Natural Resources under State-wide Order
29b. The community residents, local community leaders and landowners
and elected officials representing the area have been involved
in the development of this remediation plan since 1998. At this
meeting you will be given the opportunity to commit voluntarily
to contribute your share of the costs of this effort thereby
avoiding significant additional costs associated with possible
enforcement action and/or litigation. Your completed commitment
to voluntarily contribute at this time is expected to result
in your release from liability for alleged contamination at
this site.
